With the start of the course the question of what defined beauty ran circles in my head. After the first day and the first assignment three of us headed back home and had a two hour discussion of what might explain the true essence of beauty.
The conclusion we came to was beauty was something that was undefinable. It just holds sense when looked at in relativity to something else, when looked at it as a whole. An old woman with broken yellow teeth may not be the epitome of beauty but when the whole scenario is taken into account - her sitting in a crowded market with flowers all around her, her grateful smile at those customers who buy flowers from her roofless shop- that emotion, the complete scene is one that could be termed beautiful.
Even if we talk about the beauty of just a human form, without the emotions and the general character of the person to factor in the equation the person cannot be termed as beautiful. You can tell whether a person is physically attractive just by looking at them but even then you mayy not call him her or her beautiful.
